Allen is well known for his television work, for which he has won awards in his native Ireland – he has appeared in ROME for HBO, THE TUDORS for the BBC and Showtime and ITV’s beloved series DOWNTON ABBEY, which won the cast a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for both series 2, 4 and 5. His theatre credits include Mike Leigh’s hugely successful ECSTASY at The Hampstead and Duchess Theatres and Nick Payne’s multi award winning play CONSTELLATIONS at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. 

Other credits include both DOWNTON movies, THE IMITATION GAME with Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley which was nominated for 5 Golden Globes and 8 Academy Awards and the equally multi award-winning BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY for Fox. Allen has recently wrapped filming the lead roles in the independent feature COLD MEAT which premiered at FrightFest, and limited series THE HUNTED. He can currently be seen in AMC+’s THE VANISHING TRIANGLE, based on the true story from 1990’s Ireland.
